Quanida Wilcox, 87, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Baxley, GA. Quanida was born on March 3, 1938, in Surrency, GA, to Waymon Nathaniel Wilcox and Olean Ethel (Holmes) Wilcox.

Quanida was predeceased by his parents, and four of his brothers: Nathaniel, Clarence, David and Stanford.

Survivors include his son, Todd Wilcox; daughter, Karyn Wilcox; two granddaughters: Toni (Luke) Hoerber, and Whitney (John) Othen; four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Bella, Zoe and Aiden; siblings Bobby (Johnetta) Wilcox, Gloristine (Jack) Jones, James Lamar (Margaret) Wilcox, James L (Willie Mae) Wilcox, Portia (Clifford) Wooten, Tony Wilcox, and Donnie (Faye) Wilcox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Quanida was raised in Surrency and graduated from Appling County Consolidated High School. He worked as a Master Barber.

In the 1960s, he lived in Hollywood, FL, working as a house painter and roofer. He married and started a family.

Quanida was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 10, 1970. He returned to Surrency and became part of the Baxley Congregation.

He began working in pulp wood and was later hired by Rayonier in Jesup, GA. He worked there for 23 years. He took a lower-paying job, so that he could be on the day shift, to free up his weekends for being in the ministry, attending assemblies and conventions, giving out-of-town talks and working with the RBC paint crew. For more than 40 years, Quanida volunteered in the prison ministry.

He grew up being his mother’s kitchen helper, so he was an excellent cook. Quanida was very generous, patient, compassionate, and always ready to help anyone in need.
